As I entered the cafeteria on Monday evening, September 15 at Milford ISD, I was overcome with the most wonderful aroma of lasagna filtering through the air.

Families were all sitting around tables with salad, french bread and of course, the wonderful lasagna. I too was able to partake of this sumptuous fare. I was waited on by cute little waitresses who offered tea or soda. When I was finished eating they came and cleared my plate and smilingly asked if I wanted anything else. It was a good meal.

I am talking about the lasagna dinner fundraiser that is put on every year by the cheerleaders to help them with their winter warm ups, gear bags, raincoats and pants. Last year they raised approximately $500.00. This year they raised $200.00

Winona Crumpton headed up this fundraiser and explained, “This is an annual fundraiser for the cheerleaders, it kicks off homecoming week. The community comes out and really supports the girls.”

The high school cheerleading squad members are: Ra’tara Singleton, Laura Harvey, Genora Armstrong, Tapley Strange, Taylor Garza, Elizabeth Garza and Jalessa Hightower.

This is a yearly event, you can bet I will be there next year!
