Calling all seventh-twelfth grade students to participate in 5th Quarter. What is 5th Quarter, you ask? Activities designed for the teenager to have fun and fellowship at a safe place after the home football game.

Central Baptist Church Youth Director, Chris Talleri, says, “We have door prizes donated from the businesses of Italy, such as The Necroplex, McDonalds, Pizza Inn, the Uptown Cafe and Varner’s Citgo.”

Teens from Italy High School are invited after every home football game to the Cornerstone on Main Street to play pool, ping pong, Guitar Hero and of course, to eat.

“The chaperones are great to help. They are Karen and Brian Mathiowetz, Mick Simon, Alysa and Lyle Kirton, Charles Hyles, Mike and Carrie Britt, and Jessica Simon. Usually about 25-30% of the teens are members. We are excited because it is mainly new kids wanting to have a good time,” Talleri explained.

Names were drawn for this week’s drawing. The winners were:

  • Haley Pittmon — Two passes to the Necroplex
  • Meredith Brummett — $20
  • Kyonne Birdsong — $10
  • Yesenia Rodriguez — One free Pizza Inn pizza
  • Tavarus Griffin — One free Pizza Inn pizza
  • Jameka Copeland — $5 Gift Certificate McDonalds
  • Heath Clemons — $5 Gift Certificate McDonalds
  • Meagan Hopkins — One free Pizza Inn pizza
  • Braulio Lunc — One free pizza
  • Cassi Jeffords — Gift Certificate Varner’s Citgo
  • Sebastian Martinez — free music CD by Mark Schultz

Talleri announced there will be two more 5th Quarters. One is October 24 and the other is November 7. Homecoming will have bigger and better prizes. November 7 will have a professional skate boarder.

The first person who can guess the quarterback on the 1968 Gladiator team will win a prize at the next 5th Quarter.
