Obituary: Ann Doyle

Ann Doyle, 89, of Waxahachie died at home of natural causes on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008.

She was a dedicated homemaker and a talented seamstress, who designed and created clothes, costumes, formal dresses and home decor for her family. Vegetable and floral gardening, along with baking delicious desserts were other passions that brought her joy.

Ann was born to Ralph and Wilma Harris in the community of Hamrock between Italy and Milford. She received her cosmetology license at the age of 15 and graduated from Italy High School in 1935.

She owned and operated a beauty shop in Italy until she married Sonny Doyle. They had two children. The family traveled and lived throughout Texas and the United States as Sonny worked in the pipeline industry. They made their permanent residence in Italy when the children started school.

Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, affectionately called “Mimi.” She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Italy and transferred her membership to Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie after moving here in 1977. She enjoyed working at the In-Look Outlet Clothing Store for many years, until her retirement at age 70. Mimi loved to attend her great-grandchildren’s school, church and sports activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, who died Aug. 25, 2008.

She is survived by her son; Carl Dee Doyle; her daughter, Lynn Stockman, and husband John; granddaughter, Monica Fay, and husband Mike; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Howell, Jordan Fay and Meredith Fay of Waxahachie.

The family gratefully acknowledges her caregivers, June Haught and Vickie Livingston, for their kindness and compassion.

A memorial service to celebrate Ann’s life was held at Central Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. Visitation and a time for sharing memories was held immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Central Presbyterian Church.
