First Baptist Church of Italy youth began selling barbecue Saturday and will continue to have fundraisers until their goal is met.

If you passed by First Baptist Church on Main Street Saturday afternoon, you might have seen a crowd gathering. No, it wasn’t a wedding or a revival, it was barbecue made by none other than Fire Chief Don Chambers, longtime member. The youth group and adult leaders were selling with smiles too.

FBC was hosting a youth fundraiser to raise money for summer camp. Jennifer and Michael Chambers, co-youth directors for the last 10 years, have a plan. Jennifer said, “We are starting to raise funds early this year. We are going to a camp called Three Mountain Retreat for five days in July. So, all the youth need to start now.” She explained every year the youth alternate camping or visiting an actual retreat. This year they have chosen the retreat with air conditioning. The group consisting of 6th-12th graders and 15 adults will travel to Clifton, Texas. Of course, the public will have more chances to donate throughout the year. The youth group will be hosting candle and poinsettia sales in November.

If you are interested in helping the youth of First Baptist Church of Italy tackle their goal, please contact Michael Chambers at 972-483-0716 for more information.
