Lady Gladiators charged up
The Lady Gladiators took on the Covington Lady Owls on Tuesday. The win appeared to be in the bag, with Italy winning the first two sets. Then Covington stepped up and won the next two sets. The final game decided the match, with the Lady Gladiators taking the win. The final score: Italy def. Covington 25-14, 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 15-8.
Coach Windham said, “I was so pleased with the fight and heart the girls showed last night. In the second game, we were down badly and came back and won. That’s what I have been waiting to see all year. We had quite a few underclassmen on the court last night (Tuesday) and we have several more on the JV that I am excited to have net year.”
The JV girls won their games in two sets.
Angelica Garza — 2 kills, 1 ace serve and had her best game of the season

Jaleecia Fleming — 2 kills, 1 ace serve. Served for 15 points.
Kaitlyn Rossa — 3 kills, 1 awesome block
Lindsey Brogdon passed very well as libero
Blanca Figueroa — did a great job getting the sets where they should be
Megan Richards — 3 ace serves, 2 kills. Megan served for over 20 points
Melissa Smithey — 1 ace, 3 kills and played aggressively at the net
The next game will be Saturday, October 25, as the Lady Gladiators travel to Waxahachie Advantage Academy and begin playing at 10 a.m. The next and final district game is Tuesday, October 28, as the Italy will host Kopperl. This will be senior night as well.
