On November 1, there will be an auction. The likes of which you haven’t seen in a long time. Not only will there be gift certificates and themed baskets to bid on, but collectables and antiques as well. And, of course, no auction is complete without a calf. Read on, to see the list…

Larry Eubank and Tommy Morrison were kind enough to donate one more item to the list this week. A Red Angus cross steer calf in honor of Larry’s dad, Freddie Eubank. Larry said, “I remember my dad used to donate a hog or calf every year to the King Memorial Methodist Church in Whitney. He started that in the early ’60s.”

The two week old calf will be around 500 pounds April 1. If someone won the bid on the calf, payed Larry for the feed, he would keep it on his land and take care of the little calf until it was time for slaughter.

The Lord’s Acre Sale had been around a long time. The Methodist Church took the lead from biblical times when someone would take a section of his field and grow and donate all the crops to the church. In modern times, church members will gladly donate home-baked items, crafts or items of worth for the church proceeds. It is still happening today.

The Italy First United Methodist Church is no different. The festivities on Saturday, November 1 include a kid’s carnival, BBQ dinner with entertainment and a live auction. Pee Wee Carter will be in charge of the auction.

The auction includes the following items:
