Visit Bethlehem-You’ll Be Glad You Did
Visit a land from long ago and see how the residents of Bethlehem lived in the time that Christ was born. Watch the market place sell fresh goat’s milk and the teachers at the synagogue instruct their young or the tax collector beg for your money. You will be able to peek into their lives for a moment.
Located behind the Presbyterian Church at 402 N. College Street in Waxahachie, Bethlehem Revisited is a walking tour (handicap accessible). A slice of the past will be opened to view the first two weekends of December (December 5-7 and Dec 12-14) 6pm-9pm. Repeating every 30 minutes, you can walk behind Mary, Joseph and the donkey as they plod along through town looking for The Inn or talk to the tanner, soap maker or grape stompers as they try to sell their wares. Admission is free but donations are accepted at the gates.
In conjunction with the Waxahachie Christmas Parade, Downtown Victorian Christmas Celebration and Candlelight Home Tour, Bethlehem Revisited is another sight you cannot miss. Also, on display inside the Central Presbyterian Church, is “The Supper Quilt” by Dr. Donald Locke, DDS, a beautiful handmade quilt sewn by the local dentist. For more information call 972-937-2390 or visit the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce website.
