Thursday night at the monthly captain’s meeting for Relay for Life many things were discussed such as various fund raisers.

One team in particular, the Silver Bullets, shared the many fundraisers they have been participating in. They have had a bake sale, candle sales, “Fill the Boot”, cook book sales, flower bulb sales and had a booth in Milford, Texas for the National Night Out collecting donations.

It really paid off for this team, twice in a row they have been awarded the “Traveling Trophy” for raising the most money for the months of October and November. The “Traveling Trophy” is a trophy that stays with the team that raised the most money for the whole month until the time of the next meeting and then is passed to the team that raised the most money for that month.

Jenna Chambers (co-captain) of the Silver Bullets said,” We are thrilled to win two months in a row. Thanks to everyone who has bought cookbooks and candles and supported us with the other fundraisers. For December, we are having a very large Christmas card painted and it will stand in the libraries’ yard. Each family can pay $10.00 to have their name put on it. When people pass by they will be greeted with Christmas wishes from all of Italy’s citizens. If you are interested in having your family be a part of this, please contact one of our team members. We should have the card ready for the Christmas Festival in a couple of weeks and you can sign it there as well."

“For me it is just very exciting and I love doing it. It is great to be helping out and supporting such a great cause – helping to find a cure for cancer,” explained Kasey Montgomery.
