Italy Varsity Girls & Boys play for the Tournament Championships
Head Basketball Coach Kyle Holley — Head Basketball Coach Kyle Holley was active during the Italy game against All Saints in the second round of the Italy Invitational Tournament. Italy won the game 68-56 and will play for the championship Saturday, December 6th at 7:30 p.m. (Barry Byers)
Italy Invitational Tournament – The Lady Gladiators came from behind to beat the Venus Bulldogs 43-37 in the first round. Then the Lady Gladiators won in dramatic fashion in the second round when Megan Richards swished a left wing jump shot with :3 left in the game to beat the Mildred Lady Eagles. Becca DeMoss added a buzzer-beater, after a Mildred turnover, to seal the victory 35-31. The Lady Gladiators play for the Tournament Championship Saturday, December 6th at 6:00pm.
The Italy Varsity Boys were tested by the Mildred Eagles in the first round but the Gladiators won a thriller in overtime 59-56. Italy advanced to the second round and was tested again by a tenacious All Saints squad. The Gladiators eventually took control of the game in the third quarter and held on for a 68-56 win. The Italy Varsity Boys will play for the Tournament Championship Saturday, December 6th at 7:30 p.m.
