7th Girls – Italy puts a scrappy effort in the 1st period trying to keep pace with a talented Itasca squad. Italy’s defense did the job and Itasca only managed an 8-7 lead after the 1st.

Unfortunately for the Lady Gladiators 7th Graders, it was Itasca’s defense that turned up the heat forcing turnovers and creating fastbreak opportunities. By the end of the 2nd period, Itasca’s Lady Wampus Cats built a 23-8 advantage putting Italy into a hole going into the halftime break.

Italy tried to respond in the 3rd by outscoring Itasca. The effort ultimately made a small dent in the Lady Wampus Cat lead and Itasca still had a comfortable lead 29-14 going into the 4th period.

Italy never scored again as Itasca added 4 more points to their lead. The Italy 7th Grade Gilrls didn’t throw in the towel, however, and left it all out on the floor for Italy fans. The final score was 33-14 with Itasca winning.

7th Boys – Italy’s #3 Trey Robertson had a big opening period fueling the Italy effort against Itasca. The Gladiators had a nice lead and the momentum heading into the 2nd period 11-2.

Italy’s 7th grade boys didn’t let up in the 2nd, fast breaking the Wampus Cats at will. Italy’s #13 Justin Wood got the big rebounds in the lane and Italy’s #1 Eric Carson ran the offense as Italy led at the break 22-8.

Italy eventually chased the Wampus Cats out of the Italy Coliseum by winning big and making a statement. The 7th Grade Boys have 2 games left in the season and it looks like they are gonna be tough to beat.
