Stafford Elementary student awarded $10,000 scholarship
Even though Bailey DeBorde is only in the 6th grade, she already knows what direction she would like her life to take. She plans to attend Tarleton State University in Stephenville and major in Human Sciences and become a Registered Nurse. The $10,000 scholarship she recently won at the San Antonio Stock Show will help her realize her dreams.
“I was so excited to win the scholarship,” Bailey said. “I won first place in the shorthorn division in San Antonio. The $10,000 will help me go to college.”
Bailey is a student at Stafford Elementary in Italy. Her dad, Brian, helps her with her animals. She has been actively showing cattle for three years. She is on the “A” honor roll, loves participating in sports and is a member of the Ellis County 4H.
Bailey’s younger sister, Brooke, is a 4th grader at Stafford. She is following in her big sister’s footsteps. Brooke showed her Limousine “Sassie” at the Ft. Worth Stock Show and won 1st place in her class. Brooke and “Sassie” returned to the ring and won Champion of the Division as well as being chosen Overall Grand Champion.
“My favorite thing about showing is getting to know the animals,” Brooke said. “I really like having my dad help me and teach me how to take care of my animals.
Congratulations to Bailey and Brooke on their awards.
