During Spring Break, Bales and Norwood will flex their muscles as they compete for State Championships in Powerlifting. The weigh-ins will be on March 20th and the competition will start on March 21st in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Bales and Norwood will be competing in two different weight classes and three seperate powerlifting events: squat, bench press and deadlift.

Norwood’s strongest lifts thus far have been a 210 lbs. squat, a 110 lbs. bench press and a 230 lbs. deadlift. Each lifter gets three attempts and their highest score from each event will be added together for their overall score.

Coach Craig Bales oversees these athletes as they pursue this unique accomplishment. Bales and Norwood’s efforts, along with the rest of the IHS Powerlifting Team have rejuvenated the program that only traveled to one meet last season. Lady Gladiators Bales and Norwood will compete at the State level following in the powerlifting footsteps of Brittany Bartee who was a State qualifier and Joann Jones who placed 3rd at State in 2005.

Good luck Kaytlyn and Sa’Kendra as you keep “Raising The Bar” for future IHS Powerlifters.
