March 13th at 6:00 PM in the Milford ISD cafeteria, wonderful aromas of spaghetti and garlic bread were wafting through the air. This was just the beginning of a enjoyable evening.

I am talking about Milford ISD’s Dinner Theater night. The evening started with a spaghetti dinner served with garlic bread and salad served by the students. Then after the wonderful meal the students began their performance of the play, Nasty Things Murders written by Arthur Lovegrove.

The play takes place in a home for retired gentlewomen. The four ladies that reside there are very upset because their television stopped working just at the climax of a real life murder drama. They were just about to find out “who dunnit” when their television went dead. The conversations they have start some lively guesses as to who did it and then they are horrified when they think the person who did it lives right there with them.

Khristy Strange and Cheryl Sessums were the directors of this One Act Play. Khristy said, “I think the students have done a fantastic job. I believe they worked better this year then they did last year and I expect some fantastic things on the 24th at the UIL Zone 2 competition in Frost. If we place first or second we get to go to District Competition in Abbot on April 2nd.”

“We are very proud of our students for the effort they have put in with their talent and we are very fortunate to have two directors, Khristy Strange and Cheryl Sessums that are so dedicated that really bring these kids along in their education of theater,” remarked Marilee Byrne (Principal).

The cast:
Ethel – Genora Armstrong
Louise – Allie Norcross
Madge – Laura Harvey
Mary – Tapley Strange
Matron – Tapley Strange
Lights – Rolando Vega
Sound – Lee Smith
Make Up/Costumes – Elizabeth Garza
Stage Crew – Ahvery Snell

“The students are adorable and they are great little old women,” said Cheryl Sessums (Director).

Good luck at UIL, Milford, you did a great job!
