Ronald Lane Cohagan, age 52, of Irving passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Baylor Health Center in Irving, Texas. He was born on January 3, 1957 in Waxahachie, to Donald L. and Marie (Herrin) Cohagan. Ronnie was raised in Italy, Texas where he attended High School. After graduation he attended Navarro Junior College, and the University of North Texas. He married Julie Chalfant December 14, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ronnie started working for Vought Aircraft in December 1985 as a machine parts inspector and was a dedicated UAW Local 848 union member for 23 years. He held office as Union Steward from 1999-2002, Financial Secretary from 2002-2008, and President from 2008-present.

Ronnie’s hobbies were enjoying the outdoors and breeding and raising paint horses.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Cohagan of Irving; two daughters, Kate and Carmen Cohagan of Irving; mother, Marie Cohagan and brother, Richard Cohagan and his wife Cheryl of Gunter, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Cohagan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Pastor Ronnie Dabney officiating. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Herrin, Romeo Munoz, Russell Strowd, Pete Jimenez, Steven Carter, Randall Ward, Luin McConnell and Wendell Helms.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 and Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 9 a.m. until service time.

There will be a memorial service at the Local 848 Union Hall located at 2218 E. Main St, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050, Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 4-6 p.m.
