This months regular city council meeting will be held, Monday, April 13th at 6:30 p.m. Here are some of the items on the agenda:

  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding Andy Hinz with Ellis Co. Home Inspections to address the Council regarding services for building permits, plan reviews and inspections.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding Jerry Martin with C & C Engineering, Inc. to address the Council regarding services for building permits, plan reviews and inspections.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding the reviewing the bids received and consider contracting for sanitation services.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding updating The International Building Codes and the National Electric Code.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding a Lease Agreement with Skybeam to lease space on the Water Tower for internet services.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding Ordinance 090413-1, an Ordinance of the City Council of Italy, Texas, declaring unopposed candidates in the May 9, 2009 General Election, for the purpose of electing a mayor and two council members at large for terms of two years and for the purpose of electing one council member at large for the unexpired remaining term of one year; canceling the election; providing a severability clause; and providing an effective date.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding Ordinance 090413-2, an Ordinance providing for licenses of dogs and cats and declaring unlawful the possession of any dog or cat contrary hereto; prohibiting dogs and cats from running at large, prohibiting the keeping of dogs and cats which cause annoyance; providing for the vaccination of dogs and cats and rabies control; setting the fees for impounding dogs and cats and the disposition of impounding dogs and cats; providing for dog and cat pound and its management; providing for the payment and removal of the impounded dogs and cats; providing for a penalty; providing a severability clause; providing a repealer clause; and providing an effective date.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding the Police Department applying for the Cops Grant (CHRP).
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding the review of the audit report submitted by Murray and Associates.
  • Discuss and consider necessary action(s) regarding reviewing a Substandard Building Ordinance.

Closed Session

Then they will go into closed session to discuss two things. Once they have discussed them in closed session they will move back into the open session to discuss and take action.

  • Deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of the City Secretary/Administrator, and all matters incident and related thereto.
  • Deliberate Ordinance 090413-3, an Ordinance of the City of Italy, Texas, establishing the salary for the Mayor; providing a severability clause; providing a repealer clause; and providing an effective date.

The city council meets in the chambers behind the police department. It is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend.
