As I was driving down Highway 34, Tuesday afternoon around 4:00 PM, I could not believe my eyes. I took a double take and yes I really did see a man walking down the highway on stilts.

I stopped and took his picture and he was kind enough to take a minute and explain to me why he was walking down the highway on stilts.

It turns out this young man is David Horner. He works for the Smokehouse located next to the Shell station on the corner of Hwy 34 and Kinfolk Lane in Italy. His job is making the delicious beef jerky.

When I asked him why he was walking on stilts he said, " I am practicing walking on stilts because I just got hired on at Screams (Halloween Theme Park located in Waxahachie, Texas) two days ago. They told me I could make up my character. I haven’t figured out what character I am going to be yet but I will hopefully be walking around on stilts scaring people."

This will be Horner’s second year to work for Screams. When asked what character he played last year, he responded, “I played a guy that was kind of like Leather Face. I had faces all over my body.”

As I left Mr. Horner, he was walking home on his stilts, waving to everyone.
