Carlene Hunt Perryman loves to collect antiques, so much so, that her husband told her if she purchased one more thing for the house she would have to take something out. That sparked the idea of owning her own antique shop.

When the opportunity came about for the Perryman’s to buy their dream house in Milford they jumped on it. When Milford’s old bank building became available, another dream came true for Carlene, she was able to open up her own antique store right there in Milford. It opened about three weeks ago. Carlene explained, “The name of the store is Somewhere in Time Victorian Antiques, but that doesn’t mean we just sell victorian antiques. We sell everything, Shabby Sheik, Primitive and if we don’t have it we can get it.”

“We have a real big goal to get Milford ‘back on the map’. This is just one goal for me to have an antique store on the side and it is so much fun for me. Antiquing is a disease, called ‘Antique Itis’, once you start collecting antiques you can’t stop.”

The hours for the store are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays. Somewhere in Time is located at 110 South Main, Milford, Texas.

Perryman doesn’t want to stop with just an antique store, her plans are to open a dance studio which is scheduled to open up in August when the kids begin school. They will offer Jazz, Tap, Ballet and gymnastics. You get to take all four for $40.00 dollars a month, one day a week. Carlene’s daughter, Leah Hunt Perryman, will be teaching. Leah attended college on scholarships for dance and has been dancing since she was three, and has won several competitions. “She is a very qualified teacher,” explained Carlene. The dance studio will be located where the antique shop is now. Somewhere In Time will be moved into one of the other buildings on Main Street. If you have any questions you can call Carlene at 972-493-2459.

For her love of antiques and her quest for Milford to grow Carlene Hunt Perryman has seen some of her dreams come true.
