Italy High School Band Trip
The Italy High School Awarding Winning Band ventured to the Arbuckle Wilderness in Oklahoma May 8th and 9th for their annual band trip. The 40 members, chaperones, and Band Director, Jesus Perez headed to their destination with enthusiasm even with the unpredictable weather.
They arrived Friday at the Arbuckle Wilderness’ 24th Annual Band Funfest to compete in this event. The band really showed dedication by performing outdoors in the heat and humidity. The judges found their performance to be Superior Rating. This came as no surprise to the Italy hometown boosters. The judges were very pleased to see such a large band from a 1-A school.
After the contest, the members retired to the campgrounds for football, softball, some impromptu mud fighting and finally hamburgers cooked by the famous BBQ master himself, Chef Perez. Later that evening, the band members enjoyed video games and you guessed it – more mud fighting.
Saturday morning the band loaded up the bus and headed to Grapevine Mills Mall where everyone shopped till they dropped. We were proud to see that most of our kids spend their hard earned money on Mother’s Day gifts, which was the next day. The trip concluded on Saturday evening with some tired yet happy band members.
You can be proud of our IHS Regiment Band and the hard work they have displayed throughout this year.
If you want to see this Award Winning Band, their Spring Concert is being held, Wednesday, May 20th at 6pm in the Dome. You will not be disappointed!
