Italy’s Varsity Boys competed in their first game of summer league play against the Ferris Yellowjackets on Monday at the Dallas Life campus. The contest was a good challenge for the Italy squad since Ferris is a larger 3A school.

It looks as though Italy’s Jasenio Anderson, John Isaac and Heath Clemons will provide the scoring punch again this season. Head Coach Kyle Holley is trying to find the right combination to team with Desmond Anderson to round out the starting five.

Although Italy may still be undersized in the paint, look for the Gladiators to add outside scoring threats to their arsenal.

The Italy J.V. squad battled the Palmer J.V. squad Monday as well. Led by Larry “Manchild” Mayberry, the Italy J.V. put on a dominating performance. The J.V. has a nice balance of bigs and smalls. The big boys include Mayberry, Cole Hopkins, Aaron Thomas and Tyvion Copeland. And the smaller lineups consist of Corrin Frazier, Kayden Jacinto, Tony Wooldridge and Reed Jacinto.

Both teams will play again today (June 2) in Rice with the Italy J.V. starting at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity tipping off at 6:00 p.m.

For Italy to end next season as Champs, it all begins now…Go Gladiators!
