Obituary: Eddie Jarrell Saylors, 1942 – 2009

Eddie J. Saylors, 67, of Cleburne passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009, in Fort Worth.

Eddie was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Milford to Felix Saylors and Imanette Schrader Saylors and was an Italy High School graduate in 1960. Eddie served his country in the United States Army. Eddie touched many lives in his 67 years. Anyone who knew him will remember his generosity and compassion toward his family, friends, co-workers and the entire community. He will be greatly missed.

Eddie was a banker for 49 years and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Eddie served as past president of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Cleburne Soccer Association. Eddie was a member of the Rotary Club for over 35 years and was a past Cleburne Citizen of the Year. He was very active in his church where he was a Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Suzanne Scott Saylors; and brother, Felix Ray Saylors.

Survivors: Wife, Jackie Saylors of Cleburne; son, Todd Saylors of Cleburne; daughters, Jennifer Diaz and husband, Augie, of Fowler, Calif., and Shelby Curl and husband, Jason, of Frost; stepsons, Jason Hutchinson and wife, Karla, of Joshua, Jamie Hutchinson of Georgetown and Joey Hutchinson and wife, Karla, of Tyler; sister, Patricia Jones and husband, Jack, of Terrell; grandchildren, Victoria and A.J. Saylors, Chase and Taylor Diaz, Caleb, Madison and Cooper Curl; and six stepgrandchildren.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Interment: Rosehill Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Niedecken will officiate. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rosser Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Jack Browder, Paul Swartz, Red Speaker, Rick Horton, Don Hughes, Jimmy Campbell, Bob Childress and Peter Harty. Honorary pallbearers: the Poker Group, Wesley Sunday School Class, Lowell “Stretch” Smith Jr., George Marti, Robert Sparks, Dr. Steve Johnson and Bill Parker.
