Obituary: James “Jimmy” Ray Drake, 1946 – 2009

Mr. James “Jimmy” Ray Drake, 63 of Waxahachie, passed away in Dallas Friday, June 12, 2009. He was born January 24, 1946 in Waxahachie.

Jimmy was a member of The Avenue Church. He enjoyed playing baseball on the church team. He worked at Henderson’s Grocery Store for many years delivering groceries until it closed. He was also known to pick up aluminum cans for recycling all over the city and parking cars for social events in town.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen A. (Newton) Drake and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Alma Darden.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Cory Hines. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
