Milford competed in the first game on Thursday against Hillsboro. The winner would be matched up against Frost in the second game to ultimately decide the Tournament Champions.

Both teams were showing fatigue early as the the final games of the four day tournament were coming to an end. The hot sun was becoming as strong an opponent as the competition.

Hillsboro needed a total team effort to build a late lead. However Milford showed guts with one final rally but came up short of their mark. Hillsboro held on for the victory but couldn’t celebrate long as they had to take on the Frost Lady Polar Bears in the Championship game, about 30 minutes after sliding past Milford.

Congratulations to Milford, who were made up of mostly 7-year-old athletes, for taking 3rd Place in the tournament as well as qualifying for the State Tournament under Head Coach Ty Evans and his assistants.

Then it was time for the big tournament finale between the Frost Lady Polar Bears and the Hillsboro Mean Green.

Italy’s Lacy Mott (who was picked up by Frost for the playoffs) had a big play early when she knocked in a homerun in the Championship game. Sisters Alyssa and Savannah Seay were also rock-solid in the big game along with second baseman Sydney Woods and her mighty swings at the plate.

Back-to-back games for Hillsboro was just to much to overcome as the Frost third baseman Katelyn Worley, scooped up the grounder and delivered the throw to first baseman Jenna Moore for the final out of the tournament.

Frost first baseman Jenna Moore had an outstanding championship game as she made several catches for outs as well as hitting a homerun.

Hillsboro Mean Green Coaches Roger Creech, Howard Sexton and James Washington did an outstanding job with their girls and have the team primed to be a force at the State Tournament.
