It was only fitting that after so many IYAA baseball games were rescheduled due to rain during the year that the season ending baseball/softball party endured one last storm.

This time, the party wasn’t delayed or rescheduled. Instead, the event continued as planned and the lucky few that attended the party were greeted with smiles and snacks.

Trophies were also passed out to those that could attend and the water slide and bounce house, donated by the Haight family, remained open for the kids to enjoy.

And along with the two goats grazing in the batting cage, discovered by Coach Gary Wood before the party started, a pet python was later unvailed to the horror of Coach Ken Norwood. Priceless.

The 2009 IYAA Baseball/Softball Season was definitely one to remember. Who will forget the MetLife Snoopy Blimp flying over head during the games or the no hittter pitched by 6th grader Tara Wallis against Hillsboro or the 94 pitches thrown by Chase Hamilton to ruin Itasca’s undefeated record.

So many memories. Like Lacy Mott’s game winning RBI to help the Frost Lady Polar Bears go on to win 1st Place in the District Tournament after Lacy was drafted by Frost for the playoffs.

Or how Italy’s own Alex Jones helped the Milford Lady Bulldogs take 3rd in the District Tournament and advance to State along with Frost.

A lifetime of memories that are made possible by IYAA volunteers and team sponsors. The IYAA Board members would like to thank everyone who helped to make the 2009 baseball/softball season successful.
