It’s the beginning of scrimmage season and the Lady Gladiator Volleyball teams are taking full advantage of the time. They started two-a-days last week with Coach Andi Windham and Coach Jennifer Reeves. The JV and Varsity squad is ready to take on the competition.
Referring to the first scrimmage on Tuesday night, Coach Windham said, “The JV made a wonderful showing. Reeves and I were very proud of them. That is a great group of young talent that we are both excited about working with.” The young team beat Maypearl at their game.
It seems the Varsity squad has a little bit of work to do. Coach Windham commented, “I was hoping the girls would make a better first-home-game showing, but I take the blame for most of that. I have made some changes since (the game) that looked really good in practice. The varsity girls have a strong group of seniors who should lead the team to success. Despite our loss, I’m very excited about the season to come.”
The next games for the Ladies are a tournament in Venus on August 15 and August 18 in Palmer. Next home game is Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 am against Wortham. Go Lady Gladiators!
