At Italy High School on Friday night, the dome was buzzing with activity. Red Oak Life came to play the Lady Gladiators and left with their hats in their hands.

Varsity players came to the dome ready to win and that’s just what they did. The Ladies won in three straight sets. “I am so pleased with the efforts of the girls Friday night. We certainly needed that win! They were focused, had fun and played up to their potential. I expect more wins to follow and I am very proud of them,” Head Coach Andi Windham commented.

The JV didn’t fare so well Friday night. It was a loss in 3 matches. “They played really hard but we just had too many missed serves and mental mistakes in order to come out on top,” Coach Jennifer Reeves said.

However, it all changed when the JV girls had tournament play the next day. “Saturday, we played in the Covington JV Tournament. We placed third, only losing one game to Waxahachie Advantage Academy. The girls played awesome. I am very proud of them. They really stepped up their game and played with a lot of pride. The girls are working hard and playing well right now and I am looking forward to the rest of the year with this great freshman group of athletic young ladies,” Reeves explained.

The next games are slated for Tuesday, September 1 against Palmer at the dome. JV and Varsity play beginning at 5:30.
