Lady Gladiators Take On Palmer
The Lady Bulldogs of Palmer made a short trip to Italy on Tuesday night to take on the Lady Gladiators for the second time this pre-season. Italy defended the net with enthusiasm but it didn’t take Palmer long to perform the duties at hand. With a four game set, Palmer won 3 out of 4.
Italy won the first set at 25-22; however, Lady Bulldogs finished with 25-13, 25-17 and 25-19. Coach Andi Windham said, “Last night (Tuesday) was disappointing, yes, but we did play better than we did against Palmer last time. We came out that first game and those Bulldogs didn’t know what hit them! Then, we began to make silly mistakes and dug a hole too deep to get out of. If the girls can finish a game with the enthusiasm that they start with, we will be where we need to be as a team.”
The Lady Gladiators Varsity will play this Saturday at the Blooming Grove Tournament. Times to be announced. Referring to the games, Coach Windham said, “I really hope we use the tournament this weekend to prepare ourselves for the start of district on September 12.” District games begin at home against Milford at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12.
The Italy JV played Palmer JV as well. The ladies lost the first two and won the second two. Coach Jennifer Reeves said, “The girls are looking good to me and I am excited about this year.”
