Jasenio Anderson—1A Texas Football Player of the Week
Junior Gladiator Quarterback Jasenio Anderson was chosen by the Directors of www.1Atexasfootball.com as this week’s Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the overtime loss to AA Malakoff. He was selected from a list of unbelievable games played by the most talented players across the State, and his stats and some photos from the Neotribune are featured on their website, which can be reached through the link provided above.
This is an outstanding accomplishment, which reflects the performance of the entire team, as they battled back from a deficit several times, when it would have been easy to concede defeat at any time after the half. Anderson’s supporting cast made some acrobatic catches, crushing blocks, critical fumble recoveries, and other amazing plays which demonstrated the will to win possesed by every member of this team. The only negative in the game was the fact that the Gladiators came up inches short of a victory over the much bigger Tigers under horrible conditions of mud and rain.
Anderson has amassed totals through three games which place him at the top of Texas’ Offensive leaders so far. His receiving corp has been sure-handed, and several of them have racked up multiple scores and huge yards per catch averages. With only 1A teams remaining on the schedule, it is safe to assume that the team and its QB will be compiling stats which will near record-breaking amounts. Other schools in our district have scored more points and have better records overall, but few have played any competition of the level challenged by Italy so far.
Team stats so far include these numbers:
Jasenio Anderson through 3 games:
47/83/803yds/10TD/2INT/57% comp rate
Receiving:
John Isaac-11/257/3TD
Heath Clemons-11/216/4TD
Desmond Anderson-17/166/1TD
Aaron Thomas-4/123/2TD/30ypc Ave.
Anderson rushed for 107 and 3TD and passed for 269 and 4 TD in 48-50 OT loss to AA Malakoff to earn the Player of the Week Honor.
