With Homecoming behind us we can all look forward to the next big community wide event, the 2009 National Night Out. The NNO will be held on October 6th. The Italy Police Department is planning a fun-filled fall evening but is in need of some volunteers to help them out.

National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Volunteers are needed for food booths, game booths, drink booths, and face painting and tattoo booths. There is also a need for a clean up crew. Please contact the Italy Police Department @ 972/483-6414 or contact Officer Villarreal via her email ([email protected]).
