Zack W. McConnell, age 88, of Italy, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at his home. He was born January 25, 1921 in Gunter, Texas to Gilbert and Ada (Forbes) McConnell. Zack was a dedicated family man, Christian and a well respected business owner of McConnell Furniture in Italy, Texas for over 50 years. He also opened the Benevolent Closet Store for those in need. He was in the U. S. Army during WWII serving in the Philippines. Zack was a member and a past Elder of the Italy Church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Elva McConnell of Italy; one son, Zack McConnell and his wife Linda of Gunter, Texas; two daughters, Cynthia Hadorn and her husband Steve of Austin and Donna Chambers of Italy; grandchildren, Marchelle, Meridith and Zack Mitchell McConnell, Staci Barton, Brady Hamilton, Douglas Chambers and Carrie Hilliard; great grandchildren, Stormey Barton, Saylor Barton, Abbey Hamilton, Heather Hilliard, Sam Hilliard, Kyle Chambers and Nikki Smith; great-great grandchildren, Jesse Chambers and Cort Smith; brother, Bill McConnell of Arlington; two sisters, Dorothy Paviolo of Sherman and Jane Webb of Dallas. Zack was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ada McConnell; three brothers, Dr. B. E. McConnell, Gilbert McConnell and Don McConnell and one grandson, Chris Chambers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Mr. Walter Buchanan and Mr. Wayne England officiating. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brady Hamilton, Zack Mitchell McConnell, John McConnell, Gilbert Smith, Luin McConnell, Don Martin McConnell, Zack Gregory McConnell and Doug Chambers.
