IJH Volleyball Girls Have Serves Of Steel
The Italy Junior High 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams tested their mettle against Waxahachie Advantage Academy on Monday.
7th Grade
Displaying “serves of steel,” Italy’s 7th grade team crushed the W.A.A. 7th grade team with their accurate serves. W.A.A. struggled to slow Italy’s scoring machine and fell in two straight sets, 25-13, 25-16.
The win keeps Italy’s 7th grade record stainless with an impressive undefeated mark of 5-0.
The 7th grade will try to finish the season as an unbeaten when they take on Kopperl next week.
8th Grade
The Italy 8th grade team gave a good effort but W.A.A.’s 8th grade Eagles were relentless in defending their nest. The Eagles won the 1st set, 20-25. Italy countered by winning the 2nd set 25-21. However, the Eagles took set three, 25-8.
W.A.A. won the match but the Italy 8th graders will try to dig deep against Kopperl next week and end the 2009 season with a win.
Coach Andrea Windham commented during Monday’s pre-game practice session, “Tina (Coach Tina Richards) and I thoroughly enjoy coaching at the junior high level. These young ladies are hard working, eager to learn and keep us smiling.”
Good luck to both teams against the Kopperl Eagles as they bring their 2009 seasons to a close. The future of Lady Gladiators athletics is in good hands as these talented young ladies will continue to raise their swords in triumph in the upcoming years…
Go Lady Gladiators!
