The holidays are a wonderful time for reflection and counting our blessings. During this time of year the Ray Loveless family remembers the miracle that touched their lives in 2005. That’s the year Ray and Barbara’s grandson, Kaleb Loveless, was diagnosed with a nueroblastoma at the tender age of nine months old.

After approximately seven months of treatment, that included chemo and two surgeries, Kaleb was declared cancer free.

Four years later Kaleb is an active 5 year old enjoying his first year of school as a Kindergartner. He loves everything other children his age enjoy and shows minimal signs of his previous ordeal. He does lift his shirt from time-to-time to show off his scar, but even that is fading.

The Loveless family is grateful for all the love and support they received during their journey. They also recognize that without the help of others who had given to cancer research in the past, Kaleb’s story might have had a very different ending.

This holiday season family members are selling the cookbook Kaleb’s Team created for the 2008 Relay for Life. The recipes are in honor or memory of someone who has had cancer. Many of the honorees are, or have been, residents of Italy.
