The newly formed Italy FFA Booster Club met this past monday. In a meeting to organize and coordinate goals and action items, it was voted unanimously to move forward with plans to build a new project center building built on the ag farm property off of FM 667.

Joe Campbell and Dale Crownover will head up the committee to research and design the best barn layout for the future of the Italy FFA students. Their findings will be presented to the Italy ISD School Board and after their approval the FFA Booster Club will begin a massive fund raising effort. The preliminary budget is targeted around $300,000.

Another project that the Booster Club is taking on is the updating of the hamburger stand used during home football games. Using donated materials, the FFA students supervised by Mr. Dickerson-Italy FFA instructor, Joe Campbell and other parent volunteers will design and construct the updated structure.

There was also discussion of a need for a greenhouse and a community garden at the ag farm property. All felt this was a worthwhile endeavor to strive for after the construction of the new project barn.

During open discussion of the meeting facilitator Donald Brummett thanked everyone for coming to the meeting and reiterated why this Booster Club has been formed. “We are here to support the kids and help the FFA program grow here in Italy”, said Mr. Brummett.

The next meeting of the Italy FFA Booster Club will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2010 at 4:30 in the Italy High School Ag Building.
