Edna Yarbrough, 1927-2010

Edna Yarbrough, age 82 of Italy, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Italy. She was born on October 5, 1927 in Italy, Texas to Nolie and Nora (Holley) Gardner. She worked many years at Haggar Slacks. Edna and Olen owned and operated the Yarbrough City Café. She was lifelong member of the Italy Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, Loveda Proud of Dallas and Donna Cate and her husband, Jackie of Italy; sister, Ethel Herrin of Italy; brother, Larry Gardner of Waxahachie; sisters-in-law, Frances Yarbrough of Italy, Jean and Henry Wakeland of Whitney and Elaine Gardner of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Lisa and Raymond McNeme, Tisa Provencio, Jackie Dwayne and Amy Cate and Ken and Heather Cate; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to count. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Olen Yarbrough; sister, Bonnie Compton and brother, Kenneth Gardner.

Edna loved her family with all her heart. She was a prayer warrior that loved the Lord. She enjoyed visiting with her special friends at the Uptown Cafe.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Walter Buchanan and Dennis Crecelius officiating. Interment will follow in the Italy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Dwayne Cate, Ken Cate, Eddie Ryan Provencio, Raymond McNeme, Eddie Provencio and Jerry Holley. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Mitchell Yarbrough, Dr. John Arkusinski, Loyd Davidson, Harris Davidson, Raymond Moseley, Carson Hastings, Troy Kowalski and Joe Mack Hugghins.

Family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 P. M. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.
