On Saturday, Jan. 30, twelve students from Italy represented the district at the Central Texas Honor band clinic and concert. Over 600 students from 30 schools competed earlier in the month to earn the right to perform at this prestigious event.

To earn placement in the band, students had to perform two prepared etudes and one sight-reading piece for a panel of three judges. The judges’ scores are then used to select the top-ranking students to fill each section of the band.

Once again, Italy was well-represented at Saturday’s day-long rehearsal and evening concert.

Middle school honor band members included:

  • Meagan Hooker, 7th chair flute
  • Alexis Sampley, 1st chair oboe
  • Joseph Pitts, 3rd chair alto saxophone
