Two Milford ISD Band members play in the Cen-Tex Band
Only two freshman earned the right to play in the Cen-TX Symphonic Band on Saturday, January 30. Freshman Rachel Strange was one of those.
“I love playing my flute,” said Strange. “I practice several hours a week and just enjoy playing. I was surprised to have placed fourth chair in the symphonic band. It’s an honor.”
Milford band director, Mike Trussell, is pleased that another high school student, Tapley Strange, clarinet, made third chair Concert Band. Two eighth graders also beat out other players to earn a chair in the junior high concert band: Eric Evans, trumpet, and Jacarvus Gates, trombone.
Cen-TX is a competition for the small, local schools in and around the Waco area. The concert was held at McGragor High School. Milford has taken band students to this competition for the past three years.
