Ernest Keith Reynolds, 1938 – 2010

Ernest Keith (Sonny) Reynolds, 72, of College Station, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at his home.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. Services will also be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the funeral home, with Bro. David Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery of College Station.

Ernest was born in Gladewater, Texas on February 13, 1938 to Ernest Weldon and Martha Lou (Finley) Reynolds. He graduated from Italy High School in 1956. He married Paula Sue Johns on September 4, 1957 in Ennis, Texas.

He graduated from the Department of Public Safety Academy in 1960 and served The State of Texas as an officer for six years. He was employed as a railroad engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad and later Union Pacific Railroad for thirty years until his retirement in 2001. He was proud to serve as the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Local Chairman for nearly two decades and was on the General Committee and Texas Legislative Board.

He enjoyed his retirement by playing golf, attending Aggie sporting events, RVing with Paula, listening and playing country music, gardening and spending time with his family.

Ernest was a lifelong Baptist and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paula; his devoted daughters Laura and husband, Donald Gardner; Susan and husband, Greg Pickard; Leigh Anne and husband, David Engel, all of Bryan. His aunt, Murrah Dee Dickson of Lone Oak, Texas. Grandchildren Brian and wife, Hollie Gardner; Olivia Gardner and Taylor Galloway; Robin and husband, Michael Carpenter; Jake Pickard; Jordan, Avery and Jaxon Engel. Great-grandchildren Reagan and Ethan Gardner; Caroline and Wade Carpenter.
