Obituary: Melvin Junior Langley, 1940 – 2010
Melvin Junior “Pepe” Langley, age 70, of Italy, passed away Saturday evening, March 13, 2010 at Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born February 11, 1940 in Centerville, Texas to Johnny C. and Mertie Lee (Bush) Langley. He married Carolyn Fulton in Corsicana on July 2, 1971. He retired from Dart Container in 2005 after 15 years of service.
Melvin loved camping, being outdoors and spending time with his family. He spent most days sitting quietly in his camper/office reflecting on times spent with family and friends. He loved the outdoors, whether a Sunday drive, tinkering with his lawn mower or just sitting in the lawn chair with that favorite cup of coffee.
Survivors include four daughters, Vickie Williams and husband, Clay of New Caney, Texas, Leona Aparicio and Steven Fowler, Jr. of Italy, Christy Antle and husband Darren of Waxahachie and Emily Langley and James Lee Finley of Italy; two sons, Tony Langley and wife Tracy of Lampasas, Texas and Talmadge Langley of Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Langley in 2007 and brother, J. L. Langley in 2008.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Karen, Menda and Christy of Family Care of Texas and special friend, Amanda “Leroy” Lusk and family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.
Funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Brother Grady Cashion officiating. Interment will follow at the Dresden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bynum, John Banks, Steven Fowler, Jr., Darrin Lusk, Macky Graves and Ronny Kitchens. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Fenton, Luis Aparicio, Chris Kincaid, Kevin Fulton, Bryan Fulton and Alan Hamilton.
