Kaytlyn Bales takes 3rd Place at State powerlifting meet

Not only did Kaytlyn Bales represent Italy at the state powerlifting meet in Corpus Christi, she did it atop the championship podium with a 3rd place finish in her class at the 1A Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s State meet.
Daughter of Italy’s Athletic Director Craig Bales and his wife Jenny, both teachers at Italy High School, Kaytlyn competed at the state level for the 2nd year in a row coming in 5th place in 2009 with a final lift total of 615 lbs and 3rd place this season with a final lift total of 720 lbs. That’s a 105 lb improvement! Wow!
“I worked out three days a week for about an 1.5 hours down at the field house. Although I was very excited about taking 3rd place and getting to stand on the podium, my sights are still set on winning the top spot. I definitely plan on going for it all next season,” said Kaytlyn in regards to her state journey.
Kaitlyn’s mom, Jenny Bales, said, “Craig and I are so proud of her!”
