Special Event to Celebrate the “Greatest Generation”

To end the month-long “March for Meals” celebration, Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties is hosting its annual benefit, “Remember When…A Fabulous 40’s Fling,” on Saturday, March 27. It will be held at the National Guard Armory located at 618 N. Grand in Waxahachie.

A happy hour and reception begins at 6:30pm, followed by dinner, a “live” radio show featuring 1940’s celebrities, and chances to win prizes throughout the evening. The event will feature big band sounds from the Corsicana Swing Orchestra and swing dancing with the Fort Worth Jitterbuggers. Tickets are still available at $75 each, or tables for $1,000.

In addition, “Draft” tickets for a prize giveaway are available for $50 each to win gifts such as round-trip airfare, Disneyland passes, sporting event tickets, and more! Only 200 will be sold, and you do not have to be present to win. Tickets may be purchased in advanced online, by contacting Meals-on-Wheels, or the night of the event. All proceeds will go to help provide Meals-on-Wheels services to the homebound elderly throughout Johnson and Ellis Counties.

“We are excited about the benefit in celebrating those we serve—the ‘greatest generation.’ ‘March for Meals’ is really all about our clients, and how we can help them,” said Paula Baucum, event chairperson. “Our goal is to recruit as many people in each community to become involved with Meals-on-Wheels,” she added.
