Obituary: Lillie Speer, 1913 – 2010

Lillie (Nenaw) Speer, age 96, of Italy, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. She was born June 2, 1913 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Lillie owned and operated the Dairy Inn for many years and befriended numerous people including the railroad crew. Gardening was one of her passions in life. She was an amazing woman and loved by all.

Survivors include four daughters, Agnes Atwell of Richardson, Sue Carroll of Mesquite, Jayne Bones of Bandera and Ann Olesko of Inverness, Florida; two sons, Ray Speer and his wife Mary Ellen of Green Valley, Arizona and Butch Speer of Italy; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Works; one sister, Frances Russell of Durant, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Drenon Ray Speer and grandson, James Atwell.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.

Funeral services will be 1PM Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Reverend Ronnie Dabney officiating. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery.
