Various county offices to close for move

Certain Ellis County offices will be closed briefly in order to facilitate an efficient move into new offices, as follows:

Citizens needing to do business with County offices between May 21 and June 11 are encouraged to call ahead to be certain the office is open, in order to avoid unnecessary travel. The County’s main switchboard number is 972-825-5000.

“We are looking forward to being able to serve the public better in our new facilities,” said County Clerk Cindy Polley. “And we hope that by getting out advance notice about this brief closure, we will minimize the inconvenience to our customers.”

The new location for these offices will be in the county’s new Courts and Administration building on the corner of Main and Jackson Streets. Courts and Court Clerks will be accessed through the Jackson Street entrance, while the Tax Office and Department of Development will be accessed through the Flat Street entrance.

Justice of the Peace Bill Woody, pct. 1, Constable Ben Fry, pct. 1, and the Ennis satellite offices for the Tax Assessor/Collector, Veterans’ Services, and Indigent Health Care will also be moving to a new location and will be closed as follows:

The new location for these offices will be at 207 S. Sonoma Trail in Ennis, about one block east of I-45 and one block south of Highway 34. Phone ahead at 972-825-5000 to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
