Italy & Maypearl players join forces on Texas Elite basketball team
Under the direction of NCAA certified basketball coach Aaron Itson, the Texas Elite basketball team will once again combine the athletic talents of both Italy and Maypearl and participate in the, NCAA sanctioned, Prime Time National Basketball Tournament (11th – 12th grade division).
The tournament will be held at Denton Ryan High School. Texas Elite will play two pool games today. The morning game will be at 9:00 a.m. and the afternoon game will start at 2:00 p.m.
Texas Elite will play a final pool game on Friday, July 23 at 9:10 a.m. Based on pool results, Bracket play starts on Friday as well and continues thru Sunday.
Including Coach Itson, four of Texas Elite’s players are from Italy, Bubba Itson, Jasenio Anderson, Heath Clemons and Larry Mayberry.
This will be the 8th year Coach Aaron Itson and his son Bubba will be participating in the nationwide tournament. Jasenio is certainly no stranger to the tournament and has teamed with Bubba in years previous. Jasenio, Heath and Larry are currently teammates at Italy High School where they helped their Italy Gladiators basketball team finish as State 1A Regional Finalists for the second straight year.
Coach Itson knows for his team to have a shot at reaching their goal of being considered the best in the nation, they would need an assist from a local business. Therefore, Texas Elite sincerely wishes to thank the Bell Insurance Agency of Waxahachie for their sponsorship.
