When C.C. Jones graduated from Avalon High School in the late nineties, he was like most teenagers his age. He was ready to conquer the world, ready to get on with his life. Since then, he has overcome some obstacles and has turned his life around. In April of this year, he was working at Cabinet Specialists in Waxahachie and enjoying spending time with his children, his girlfriend and his family and friends. Then all of that came crashing to an end when a doctor diagnosed him with cancer.

Within a matter of a few weeks, with a change in his health and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer, he was no longer able to work. The doctors are hopeful the treatments have shrunk the tumor enough for them to remove it through surgery in the near future. Because he has no health insurance, the medical bills are mounting.

“C.C. has always been a fighter, he never gives up,” said his mother, Angie Jones. “He will not give in to the cancer and I am glad. A positive attitude is important in this fight. He wants to be able to see his kids grow up. Casey, C.C. and Natalie need their daddy with them. He wants to be healthy and productive. This is the most important fight of his life.”

There will be a benefit on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the American Legion Hall on Rumbo Road in Ennis. A brisket dinner will be served for $6.00 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. A dance is planned from 7:00 p.m. to midnight and cost $5.00. Donations will be accepted throughout the day with all proceeds going to help pay for his medical expenses.

“There are a lot of people that have been praying for C.C. and we appreciate it so much. We hope they will keep praying. We also hope that everyone will come to the benefit,” Angie said.
