Even though it was raining cats and dogs it did not dampen the spirits at the Family Fellowship Church where they were hosting an outdoor Back to School Blast Saturday afternoon.

Because of the rain, they moved the event inside the church where they offered karaoke for the kids to sing, the movie “Facing the Giants”, a puppet show, crafts, bingo and a hotdog dinner.

Pastor Bill Morgan of the Family Fellowship Church said, “We are wanting to have a back to school blast for the community and kids of Italy. Obviously the weather has not cooperated with us so we are just enjoying our time together indoors. We are just glad to be here and enjoying our time with the children.”

The Pastor went on to say, " We will be having drawings for IPods, bicycles and gift cards for the parents."

Ruth Roberts headed up the crafts department and said, " We are doing Christian scratch off art. We have the fish sign, crosses and the word rejoice. The children are having fun scratching off the black color and seeing what bright colors are revealed."

At around 6:30 PM the winners of the drawings were announced. The winners of the two bicycles were Mike Travis and Kinze Whatley. The winners of the two Ipods were: Zorien Burley and Karlie Wafer. Winners of the parent gift cards for Dollar General were Jackie Bullock, Vickie Austin, Kellye Green and Lupe Bana.

It was gray and raining outside but inside the spirits were bright and fun was had by all.
