Italy’s Mayor Frank Jackson proclaims October 11, IYAA Day!

City of Italy’s Mayor Frank Jackson once again proclaims October 11, “IYAA Day,” within the City of Italy. Members of the IYAA family (Italy Youth Athletic Association) joined Mayor Jackson, council members Greg Richards, Dennis Perkins and Bruce Utley and city employees for cake, cookies and punch inside the council chambers at Italy City Hall to celebrate the proclamation.

Congratulations to the 2010 IYAA Volunteers of the Year, Sandra and Ken Norwood. Also, congratulations to the 2010 IYAA Citizen of the Year – For outstanding Support and Contribution, Tina Haight, who was proclaimed as such by Mayor Jackson.

Also, receiving recognition and appreciation plaques from the IYAA during the month of October, for their continued support throughout the year, were Citizen National Bank of Texas(CNB) in downtown Italy, Italy ISD, Monolithic Constructors, Inc., Tina and Marty Haight of Haight Construction Management Services of Waxahachie and Mayor Jackson and the City of Italy.

IYAA Cheerleaders, Lacy Mott, Virginia Stephens, Taylor Boyd and Nevaeh Salcido performed a couple of cheers for Mayor Jackson and the councilmen to bring an entertaining end to the special occasion.

Proclamation

Whereas, the Italy Youth Athletic Association sponsors athletic events for boys and girls from kindergarten to 6th grade, and;

Whereas, the association’s official motto celebrates children while encouraging competition and;

Whereas, over 200 positions be it on the football field, basketball court, baseball field or cheerleading squad are filled with area youth, and;

Whereas, the association’s intent is to instill the fundamentals of sports, develop character, encourage physical fitness and competitive spirit, and;

Whereas, the Mayor and governing body of Italy are proud to acknowledge the Italy Youth Athletic Association and its volunteers an asset to the community;

Now, therefore be it proclaimed that, I Mayor Frank Jackson, hereby declare that:
