Obituary: Johnny Roy Hooks, 1946 – 2010

Johnny Roy Hooks entered this life on March 4, 1946 to the parents of Arthur Lee and Della Mae Hooks in Palestine. Johnny received his education in Italy and graduated from Stafford High School. He started his career in the United States Air Force where he served four years as a Military Police Officer. He then met and married Dorothy Jean Watkins and to this union one child was born, Jennifer.

Johnny accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the Baptist faith. Johnny later married Elnora S. Anderson and remained married for 30 years until the Lord called Elnora home.

Johnny entered peaceful rest on Monday, October 4, 2010 and is preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, one brother, David Hooks and one sister, Dorothy Scott.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Chyna) Walker of Lawton, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Delandra Pate of Lawton, Courtney and Kadijah of Dallas; six grandsons, Vic (Lena) Wately of Waxahachie, DeVerick Hooks of Lawton, Brandon Pate of Red Oak, Texas, JaVance, ZanTayleon and ZanTyler of Lawton; one sister, Edna Jean Adams (A.D.) of Dallas, one half-brother, Joffery C. Williams of Waxahachie, one god-child, Miles Oliver of Dallas; two great grandchildren, Elijah Hooks and LaEssence Hooks-Shenbanjo of Lawton, two devoted best friends, Larry and Jimmy of Italy, TX and a many other relatives and friends.

Viewing on Thursday from 11am to 6:30pm followed by a wake service from 7pm to 8pm in the Edgar Thomas Memorial Chapel. Funeral service 11am on Friday at the Mt Gilead Baptist Church Italy.
