Obituary: Michael D. Wainscott, 1947 – 2010

Michael D. Wainscott, 63 of Denton, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010. He was born April 7, 1947 in Olney, Texas to William G. and Vanita J. Tedrow Wainscott. He married Sharon Hendricks on February 10, 1968.

Mike graduated from Graham High School, North Texas State University (BA Education) and University of North Texas (Master of Education). He was a past master of Stanfield Lodge No. 217 and a member of Cooper Creek Baptist Church.

Mike worked for 7-Up Bottling Company for over 20 years, beginning as a route delivery driver and eventually became a Regional Director before going back to his original profession, which was teaching. He was a teacher for 26 years and retired in 2007 after teaching at Denton High School for 17 years. Mike was compiling information to begin writing a book of his family’s history, based on genealogy research begun by his father many years ago.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas with Rev. Bobby Bryan and Dr. Richard Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home on Monday, December 27, 2010 for visitation from 6 -7 P.M.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Denton; daughter, Kellie Wainscott of Lewisville; son, Kevin Wainscott and his wife, Christie of Jean, Texas. He is also survived by his two grandsons, whom he loved dearly, William Robert (Billy Bob) and Terry Don Wainscott, of Jean, Texas; brother Monte Wainscott of Pilot Point and brother Murrie Wainscott and wife, Brenda, of Italy, Texas; his constant companion, Lucy Rose the beagle; he is also survived by mother-in-law, Suzanne McGar and several nieces, nephews and members of extended family and friends.
