Gladiators basketball playoff game set for Friday in Midlothian

After some early morning scheduling conflicts were worked out, the Italy Gladiators basketball playoff game has been, officially, scheduled for Friday, February 25, at Midlothian High School.

Already bi-district champions after earning a BYE in the first round of the state playoffs, the Gladiators will challenge the Mildred Eagles in a 2A Region 2 Area Championship game. Midlothian is just a stones throw away, or a Jasenio Anderson three-point shot, from Italy Coliseum.

So be sure to be on hand to witness history in the making as head coach Aidan Callahan and his seniors, consisting of Anderson, Heath Clemons, Ryan Ashcraft, Colton Campbell, and De’Andre Sephus attempt to lead Italy back to the state tournament in Austin where the Gladiators won it all back in 1997.

The Gladiators will be part of a double-header and will follow a 6:30 p.m. game between Azle and Midway.

An Italy win would force a Regional Quarterfinal matchup between the Gladiators and either Sunnyvale or Hearne.

Go Gladiators!
