During the regularly scheduled meeting of the Ellis County Commissioners’ Court on Monday, March 14, 2011, the Commissioners appointed 12 citizens to serve on the Ellis County Citizens Advisory Board. “We want to extend our thanks to these volunteers for their time and efforts in helping us in the redistricting process,” Judge Carol Bush stated. The Citizens Advisory Board will consist of the following individuals: Rudy Amor, Sandy Anderson, Bob Beakley, Linda Dunn, Jane Hamilton, Tony Medina, Allen Oakley, Paul Perry, Richard Reno, Brenda L. Sexton, John Tabor and Diane Threadgill.

Election Head, Jane Anderson requested that the County’s handicap voting equipment be leased to various cities and school districts throughout the County. The equipment will be used during the May 14, 2011 election. “Today is the last day to file for a spot on the ballot,” Anderson noted. The Court approved the item unanimously.

The Commissioners also appointed or reappointed members of the Ellis County Historic Commission to serve a two year term, beginning on January 1, 2011 and continuing through December 31, 2012. The members of this Board include Betty Dillard, Harold Dorsey, Wilma Dorsey, Nana Lou Dudley, Virginia Duff, Karen Esberger, Carol Farrar, Edwin Farrar, Larry Felty, Virginia Kellum, Nancy Post, Helen Prude, Shannon Simpson, Susie Toal and Sylvia Stanford-Smith.

The Commissioners approved an agreement with the Ennis Garden Club to place directional signs in Ellis County Precinct 2 to mark the Bluebonnet Trail, from March though the middle of May, 2011.
