Park Board prepares for annual Easter egg hunt
The Italy Park Board made last minute plans for the Mayor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at its monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
This year’s event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Upchurch Field.
Ronda Cockerham, assistant city secretary, said they have about 6,000 eggs to stuff and said Cody Boyd volunteered to be the Easter bunny.
She said they will place signs on various fields based on ages. The age groups will be broken into four groups – toddlers through two-year-olds, three- and four-year-olds, kindergarten through second graders and third and fourth graders.
Cockerham said recycle bins will be on site for the reusable plastic eggs.
The board continues to seek candy donations for the event through April 8.
Judi Rowe asked the group for volunteers to help with the upcoming Tour d’ Italia scheduled June 18.
In other business, the park board elected Jenna Chambers secretary/treasurer and approved minutes from the previous meeting.
